The Chapel at Christ the King
This project is called The Chapel at Christ the King located at 134 Christendom Dr, Front Royal, VA 22630 – This is part of Christendom College.
This was a new construction project and the roof scope consisted of 2 layers of 2.6” ISO and ¾” Fire Rated Plywood attached directly to a corrugated steel deck. Roof deck was covered 100% with FT Synthetic Cobalt Ultra, Slates produced by Vermont Slate blended to perfection. 20oz copper was used for all through wall flashings, roof flashings, copings, gutters, downspouts & conductor heads.
The outer section of the 5 sided hip roof has a custom design integrated into the blend and actually consists of two small pieces of slate from an old church in Ireland which the Pastor had gold leafed. We incorporated these gold leafed slate pieces in the center of the diamond.
The slate is a unique blend consisting of the following:
Field Slate – 233 Square (18”x Random widths x ¼”-3/8”) Produced by Vermont Slate
- 20% Purple- 46.6 Sq
- 20% Spanish Black – 46.6 Sq
- 30% Unfading Gray / Green – 69.9 Sq
- 30% Semi- Weathering Gray/ green – 69.9 Sq
