The National Slate Association is comprised of 100 + members that can help with all-encompassing aspects of a slate roof. Since 1922, our organization has been made up of architects, consultants, contractors, distributors and quarriers with a passion for natural roofing slate. Collectively there is a unity of purpose to keep slate as a roofing material on as many roofs as possible while promoting the historical tradition and beauty of the material.
Roofing slate has been successfully employed as a roof covering for over one thousand years, and many early design and installation techniques are just as relevant today as they were in centuries past. The National Slate Association hopes to offer additional technical and design information for future generations through its membership contributions.
